Dietary Department

Different menu daily meeting the needs of our multicultural residents

Tendercare has a large Chinese population in our nursing and retirement home and a small number of German speaking residents in Moll Berczy Haus.

We have a 4 week menu cycle which offers a different menu daily and is structured to meet the needs of our multicultural residents in our nursing and retirement homes.

Our Dietary department is constantly innovating and has embraced technology to manage its food operations. We have teamed up with our Food supplier to develop recipes that integrate the nutritional profile of our residents, menu development, meal production, costing and inventory control.

As a first step, we have streamlined our meal services in our dining rooms in the nursing home.

Because of language barriers we now use a ‘Tap and Serve’ tablet during meal service. The tablets are downloaded with Resident’s pictures, their diet, likes and dislikes, allergies, dietary restrictions and show plates of the day’s menu choices.

This system allows residents to see what the meal looks like and to make choices.

Resident’s choices are transmitted to the server where the meal is plated for our PSW’s to serve.
