Types of
Accommodation
and Rates
The home
provides three types of accommodation:

Basic Accommodation
This include meals, 24-hour nursing and personal care services.
Resident will be accommodated in a three or a four-person bedroom.
Resident who
cannot afford to pay the full standard ward rate must complete an
application for Long-Term Care Facility Reduction in Accommodation
Fees for Basic Accommodation. Proof of income that accompanies this
application will determine the monthly rate paid.
Eligibility for
the rate reduction must be completed by re-application by July 30
of each year.

Semi-Private / Private
If you wish a semi-private or private room, you will be charged the
difference between the standard ward rate and the preferred
accommodation rate.
The current
rates are established by the government and no rate reduction is
applicable for preferred (Semi-private/Private) accommodation. We
have two private rooms only.

rate is provided by Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Health
Care Programs.

ServicesCertain services for residents
of nursing homes are subject to a charge above the amount of the monthly
accommodation rate. Uninsured services at Tendercare Living Centre
include:
Admission to Tendercare is
limited to those persons who have been declared eligible for admission
to a Long-Term Care Facility by the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC).
Admission is facilitated through
the completion of an application form from the Community Care Access
Centre
website. This application provides
information needed to assess the specific care that you require and to
determine if your needs can be met in our home. When a bed becomes
available, CCAC will contact applicants on the waiting list to make a
bed offer.
Families are encouraged to visit the facility prior to
admission. Please call us or drop in for a tour. We also conduct regular
tours on Tuesdays at 2:30 PM weekly.

Software allows easy
conversion of menus to accommodate Chinese dishes
We
prepare Canadian, Chinese and German meals daily!
Dietary manager
Michelle Smith says one of the biggest benefits of having software
with the ability to access a database of Chinese menus and recipes
will be a huge time saver in light of the fact that Tendercare Living
Centre offers Canadian, Chinese and German menu options at every
meal for 354 residents.
Sysco Canada
has provided Tendercare Living Centre with software that integrates
residents' nutritional profiles with menu development, meal
production, cost analysis and inventory.
Now, Tendercare
is using Sysco's menu, which is a four-week cycle menu. The Chinese
recipes used at Tendercare were sent to Synergy's Texas head office,
and the recipes were put into a data bank, and when those recipes
are being prepared, the information is extracted and put into the
menu and production. The software is invaluable at Tendercare, which
operates a nursing home and two retirement homes under one roof.

Recreation Therapy
Tendercare Living Centre offers a wide variety of programs 7 days a
week. Some of these programs include Art therapy, Music therapy,
Gardening club, Cooking club, the new Bowling outing and the list goes
on...

Convalescent Care Program
Ministry of Health, Long Term Care has designated 10 beds for the
Convalescent Care Program.
The
Convalescent Care Program offers short stay services to people who
need time to recover strength and functioning. These individuals may
be admitted to the program directly from either the community or a
hospital setting.
The
Convalescent Care Program is a short stay program with a 90 day time
frame and clients are not required to make any co-payments for
services. Telephone and TV cable charges are extra.
Tendercare Living Centre is
privileged to have concerned and committed volunteers helping with
Activities and Resident Care Programs.
The volunteers are involved in
programs such as friendly visiting, library services, recreation,
transporting residents and feeding during mealtime.

Health Services - provides treatment to individuals who have drug
and alcohol addictions, eating disorder and stress-related
illnesses.

(Canada) Inc. - provides management services to Tendercare Living
Centre since 1994.
